Top 11gR2 RAC Installation Issues

Issue #1: Cluster Manager Integrity PRKC-1137 or PRVF-5434 when installing database software

Symptoms:

PRKC-1137 : Unable to find Version object with string value 11.2.0.2.0OR

PRVF-5434 : Cannot identify the current CRS software version

 Possible Causes:

Installing lower version of database software in higher version of Grid Infrastructure, i.e. installing 11.2.0.2 RAC in 11.2.0.3 GI cluster

 Solutions:

Validate clusterware with "crsctl check crs" and "cluvfy stage -post                         crsinst -n all -verbose", if output shows no issue, ignore the error,                       or invoke runInstaller with -ignorePrereq option.

Issue #2: PRKC-1137 or PRVF-5434 when installing database software or adding node

Symptoms:

[INS-35354] The system on which you are attempting to install Oracle RAC is not part of a valid cluster

PRKC-1094 : Failed to retrieve the active version of crs: {0}

PRVF-5300 : Failed to retrieve active version for CRS on this node

PRKC-1093 : Failed to retrieve the version of crs software on node "java.io.IOException: /oracle/oraucdb/db/bin/crsctl: not found" : {1}


Possible Causes:

"CRS=true" is not set, or set on wrong home, or set on multiple homes in central  inventory.xml


Solutions:

Refer to Document 1053393.1 to set CRS=true flag on active                                            Oracle Clusterware home only.


Issue #3: runInstaller "Nodes Selection" Window Does not Show all Cluster Nodes

Symptoms:

Oracle Clusterware (CRS or GI) is up and running, however database installer does not see all cluster nodes.

Possible Causes:

Incorrect inventory
